PRESS RELEASE - 3rd Policy Dialogue in Bulgaria

European funding for Research & Innovation in Bulgaria: an Activity Plan to increase the Bulgarian participation Sofia, 21 October 2015

On 21st October 2015, the Ministry of Education and Science of Bulgaria has gathered national stakeholders, to discuss and prioritise measures, which could improve the participation of Bulgarian organisation to the EU programme for Research & Innovation.
 
The event was organised in the frame of the European initiative MIRRIS and it is the third one of a cycle that gathered high level national stakeholders, notably representatives of the Ministry of Education and Science, Ministry of Economy, Managing authority, Ministry of Transport, Information Technologies and Communications and other.
 
During the day, the stakeholders discussed about the most suitable measures to be proposed for implementation and pilot testing aiming at increasing participation of the Bulgarian organizations to the EU programmes.
During the discussion, the Bulgarian stakeholders highlighted that the majority of priorities identified by MIRRIS are in line with the Operational Programme "Science and Education for Smart Growth", the updated National Strategy for Development of Research 2020, and adopted the Action Plan for the implementation of the National Strategy for the Development of Research 2015-2020 for Bulgaria.
Furthermore, the Roadmap for Bulgaria that is compiled within the framework of MIRRIS initiative is addressing the actions that are in line with recommendations presented in the Peer Review Report of the Bulgarian Research and Innovation system by 'Policy Support Facility' (PSF)¹.
 
 
Moreover, the implementation of the above noted activities was observed from the point of synergies at national level among Structural Funds and Horizon 2020. Participants, following the input proposed by the project coordinator META and MIRRIS Consortium Partners, Centre for Social Innovation (ZSI) and Business School Accreditation, Corporate learning (EFMD), discussed a broader scope of potential actions to be undertaken to improve the participation in Horizon 2020 and to upgrade the national system of Research and Innovation.
 
The MIRRIS Consortium will continue to support the implementation of actions engaging peers to provide tailored coaching in the areas with the highest priority identified during the dialogue.
