PRESS RELEASE - 3rd Policy Dialogue in Cyprus

The Third Round Policy Dialogue took place on September 24th, in Nicosia, Cyprus, and started from 9:30 AM, local time, gathering national stakeholders, in order to identify and prioritise institutional actions, which could improve the participation of Cypriot organizations to the EU programmes for Research & Innovation.

The Policy dialogue, organized in the frame of the European initiative MIRRIS, was the third one of a cycle that gathered national stakeholders, notably representatives of the DG EPCD, State General Laboratory, CING, University of Cyprus, Research Promotion Foundation, Cyprus Association of Research and Innovation Enterprises, Cyprus Employers and Industrialists Federation and others.

The policy dialogue elaborated the Roadmap for Cyprus, including the challenges, most important actions to be taken and main responsibilities, and covered the most suitable and proactive measures to be implemented to increase the participation of the Cypriot participants to the EU programmes. Part of the dialogue also addressed future policy trends envisaged in the ESIF programming period 2014-2020 and key aspects to be considered in the frame of Horizon 2020. The elaborated roadmap became an input for the Activity plan for the country.

Furthermore, MIRRIS will continue to support this process by engaging peers with operational experience to provide tailored coaching in the areas with the highest priority identified during the dialogue. Coaching shall target selected actors from relevant stakeholder groups in Cyprus (program owners, research managers, institutional multipliers) to ensure the smoothest possible implementation and to foster cooperation throughout different intervention levels.

The Policy dialogue was organized by the Directorate General for European Programmes, Coordination and Development, in cooperation with MIRRIS coordinator - META, and INSME.
