Horizon
2020 funds high-potential innovation through a dedicated SME instrument, which
offers seamless business innovation support under the section Societal
Challanges and the specific part Leadership in Enabling and Industrial
Technologies (LEITs).
It
was announced yesterday
that 155
companies will
receive funding in the amount €7.75 million for innovation studies
through H2020
instrument for SMEs. The
selected companies are coming from 21 EU Member States plus Israel and
Turkey.
In total
2,666
businesses applied
for the
1st round
of grants
under the above
noted instrument by
submitting a business plan. Nevertheless, EU
12 countries are still performing differently:
· - 7 out
of 13 countries had no projects selected
· - 3
countries, among which is Poland, got just 1 project
selected
· - Slovenia
is the best performer with 4 projects awarded, followed by Hungary with 3
projects and Estonia with 2
As
comparison Spain got 39 projects awarded, Austria 4, which is the same as
Slovenia, however Slovenia’s success rate is almost 3 times
higher.
